T5i vs T3i

I currently have the Canon T3i, I love it and I can take some pretty darn good photos. My mother who works for Canon said she can get a crazy deal on the T5i and offered to get me one for Xmas. I only use my camera to take pictures of my tanks and dogs. Opinions on whether this upgrade is worth it? Will I notice a difference? Last year she bought and installed a toilet for Xmas, I don't know if I want to waste my gift on something that's not practical

Very nice pics. I'm no expert but you should definitely compare all the features. Must be a better camera. But then you mentioned the great price your mom can get and what you got for last Xmas. So makes me wonder if you're going to be getting the sink next. PS: Maybe she can get a macro lens for a great price.

You can get the T5i for a pretty good price now, about $440 from canon.
You can sell the T3i for a decent amount and that would cover most of the cost of the new camera.

Why not get some L lenses? The body is fine. The lens is the most important aspect to the camera anyways.

i'd keep the T3i and get 24-70 L lens, 24-105 L or 100mm

I got the 100mm lens as well as a telephoto for outdoors. Will have to look at lens options and prices. Thanks for everyone's input
