Tag Your It - lets play along

the best thing with that is that those you don't know they grew in your tank so now they are Joe Kool this and Joe Kool that unless otherwise we'll known. Isn't that a large basis of a name - where it came from or where it grew up.lol if I search a certain piece I want to know where it came from and what momma looks like not the closest representative of it.

I'm going to start naming stuff with Kool names lol.

I got a couple pieces from Todd and I'm going to rename them.

Thanks bud, but not a COOL as Kool this and Kool that.....lol Red Dragon ------> to Red Kool Aid

Cheers, Todd

I like that I think I should rename my red dragons to red kool aid.

Any one want some red kool aid? lol

I'll play,
My tank is an AGA 210
My sump is a DIY 150 with a built in LR fuge under the skimmer and a 55 G feather calurpa fuge with a DSB
There is a small DIY (sump on steriods) 35 gallon frag tank
and to finish it up I recently converted an API 120 into a 90G frag tank by cutting off six inches and reattaching the top.

I have a Neptune Apex with four EB8's (48 outlets) a VDM for eight variable channels on the display, a BOB, and a PM1 module.
For display flow I have two Tunze 6105's and two WP-40's. All synced.
For frag tank flow I have two more WP40's and a few old Koralia Evo's.
I have two Gen-X external return pumps. One for the display and the other feeds both frag tanks and two reactors.

FWIW, I built an addition on my house for a tank room. All of this has more or less evolved over the last nine years.

Hey JoeKool, I talked with Todd on the phone and have zero recollection of any mention of this thread. I swear. Anyhow, if anyone has any questions feel free to ask, or you can check out my tank thread or TOTM thread too.

I nominate Kevin @kpiotrowski to share some of his addiction with us next. Lets get this old thread moving, and keep the PNW active on R2R.

Sorry can't. Getting out of hobby. too much money, time, and there is always something happening at the wrong time...............OK, wait a minute...........I'M BACK FULL THROTTLE!!! LOL!

I'm going to have to upload some photos, but will try to get something posted asap.

I spent the last 45 min reading this thread. lots to live up to here!!!

For now here is a pic of the 300g 74x36x26.5 ( thats how I bought it used) about 18 months ago, just before sand and salt.

and the sump room ( formerly know as the place where my wife used to parked her car)...before addition of 75g frag tank and ca rx.

Kevin buddy........ that's all you are going to give us........ don't make me or Duane come down there to take 'real pics' of your system now.

But I did sneak this other teaser pic of his tank off our FB Club page. Kevin will need to fill in the gaps

Sorry!!! very bad timming! those fish are a recent intake and are in a 12.5g pico. the white has dropsy and is being treated.

I will post up some pics but the specs are going to have to wait a bit. hopefully later tonight!

tanks is 18 months old started from dry rock. acro frags added june/july this year. the neon green birdsnest on the left was also started as a frag in june and has been fragged several times for friends for nice 3x4 multibranches to give an idea of growth in this system.

hollywood stunner has been donated to lfs display tank because just to **** big. took about 11 months to grow from frag to 13x14

give me a bit....will work on specs!

Sweet stuff all - man I love seeing pics with the sustaining stats. Enjoy seeing how different systems work throughout our hobby and the different directions folks have chosen to run with. Also big fan of seeing different layouts and stock list's. Big thanks to all that have played and displayed.

Looks like the danangelo direction with BrotherReefer didn't connect - still hope you can jump in and we can see that tank. So we are starting the 2ND direction of the tag tree off again with iReef86 - they down to play - let's see the goods :)

Should start getting a constant tag stream running here soon. Also gonna add the sweet new tank updates into the "tagged to thread" listing for props and reference of systems that are displayed within this thread.

Thank you, and thanks for your patients!

Here is a quick run down of the system.

Tank: 300g (74x36x26.5) 3/4 acrylic, center external overflow.
Wave box,-not in use. Started from dry rock. Salt added July 2013, waited to add Acropora until June 2014. I wanted a seasoned system and for us to get to know each other lol.

Stand: Tubular steal with custom bar used primarily to stand on for maintenance.

Sumps: Dual 120g acrylic

Filtration:
Reef Octopus SR05000EXT and Reef Octopus xs 250 skimmers
Ozone with air dryer media.
Floating baskets in sump for macroalgae with 192 LED grow light 12 hours at night
1 lg BRS canister + 1 dual BRS canisters for carbon/GFO
No GFO in used in last year, carbon varies but usually at least 1 canister running at all times using ROX 0.8 or lignite.
Filter sock only when blowing out display tank. 1" sand bed in front half of DT,-none behind rock, approx. 450lbs pukani & BRS reef saver.

Flow: Iwaki MD100RLT return, mostly blows behind rock work, keeping detritus from accumulating.
Reeflo barracuda closed loop with oceans motion 4-way.

Lighting: DIY 216 Cree LED controlled by Neptune Apex. Photoperiod 0800-2130 with peak between 1200-1800.

Dosing: Previously dosing pumps but started Reef Octopus sro5000 CARX in July 2014. Also, highly enriched blender food with things like amino acids, phyto & zoo plankton etc. Theory being, to give the fish first shot at it and let them poop it on the corals. Some may consider this dosing.

Controller: Neptune Apex full version. Dual EB8 each on own circuit and expansion socket on 3rd circuit. dual temp probes, cond,ph,orp.

Chiller: JBJ Artica 1/3hp. on 430g water volume. very impressed.

Propagation: 75g 48x30x12 3/4 acrylic frag tank connected to system.

Parameters: Temperature 77.0 - 77.5 in winter
80.0 - 80.5 in summer (chiller)
SG - 1.025 - 1.026 digital refractometor
PH - yeah, whatever (7.78 - 8.05 on carx)
ORP - ozone set to 380, current orp 408
Alk - shoot for 9.0 (red sea/Salifert)
CA - actually has been running 460-500 on carx & 10% weekly water change using Kent reef salt (Red Sea/Salifert)
MG - 1350 (Seachem & Elos)
P04 - 0.00 - 0.07. I tend to overfeed when runs low. (Hanna checker)
Nitrate: zero to trace (elos\Salifert) usually undetectable.

Livestock: Well, approx. 40 very nice acro frags so will wait & see in a year or two. The larger colonies speak for themselves. sps focused

Fish: 4 Tangs - purple, yellow, sailfin, orange shoulder. I want a Sohal!!
Heniochus Butterfly. 12 Long spine Cardinals, Fox Face, breeding pair ocellaris clowns, checkerboard wrasse, 2 sixline wrasses,
Flame Hawk, Alleni Damsel, Bicolor Dottyback, Black Starry Blenny, Banghicardinal, Green Chromis, Target Mandarin.

Maintenance: Daily - receive text message every 3 hrs from Apex & check parameter...(well just that its a routine msg and not an alarm)
Eyeball system on way through garage every night.
Feed 2-3 times.
Kind of do a fish count - at least the larger ones and observe behavior.

Weekly: clean front panel
10% water change. For no reason other than it works for me. Done by turn of a valve.
Test Alk every 3-4 days.
Cal every few weeks
MG monthly
Po4 monthly
Nitrate - hardly test
Regenerate ozone dryer media.

Monthly: Change or add carbon approx.
Run generator for 1/2 hr.
