Tail and fin rot question

I just had 2 clownfish that have passed due to, what is suspected to be, tail and fin rot. Should I do a water change in the tank or should I be ok? Does it linger in the tank?

Bacteria can linger in a QT for some time. I would break the tank and equipment down and sterilize before getting a new batch of fish.
