tail spot blenny, some flashing in QT?

Ive had a TS Blenny at therapuetic copper for 17 days. I had also prophylactically treated for internal parasites with Metroplex/Focus for 14 days, now completed.

I've been noticing he's been flashing occasionally against a piece of PVC in the QT. He's eating and I don't see any other sign of disease or stress, other than the flashing.

I was planning to dose 2 rounds of Prazipro AFTER the 30 days copper (completed 13 days from now)

Should I stick with that plan or should I dose Prazipro NOW, during therapeutic copper?

I would not advise mixing prazipro and copper. If you have to dose praziquantel with copper, use general cure. Less likely for a bacterial bloom.

If you want to see if fish has flukes and or provide temporary relief. Do a 5 min FW dip. This will probably be enough relief to get through copper treatment then move to prazipro.

Wouldn't doing freshwater dip start the clock again on copper? I've never done a freshwater bath before, that makes me a little nervous.

The flashing is occasional, not all the time.

Do you think it can wait until the copper is completed or is the fish at significant risk if I just wait another 13 days?

Great question, but no it doesn't interfere with the copper clock. Doing the freshwater dip would really help a lot if the fish is having difficulty breathing due to infestation of the gills by the flukes.

I looked at that video, that seems pretty easy.

Do you think the freshwater dip the best way to go at this point? I hate to stress him out if it can wait.

I have dipped tons of fish. Make sure temp on your FW RODI matches tank. It's much less scary than it seems.

The fish will likely lay on it's side don't panic. Just use a stopwatch and place back in tank at 5 min mark.

Okay thanks again HotRocks. I'll get pump to aerate in the morning. I have a hang on tank specimen container, I'll set the specimen container section in the tank with RODI and acclimate to tank water temp that way.

+1 ^^^ exactly. It's harder on you than the fish. And it really helps the fish to rid the gills of ich/velvet parasites and flukes that may be keeping the fish from breathing properly, which has a huge effect on the fish's immune system - low O2 is not good if the fish is fighting parasites and or infection.
The bottom line is that if a fish dies from the freshwater dip, it probably wasn't going to make it anyway.

I completed a 5 minute freshwater bath yesterday. He's moving around now in QT.

He's still flashing on PVC. Should I still expect that at this point?
