I added one to the tank yesterday and it's been hiding in the holes in the rock for 2 days straight. Is this common? Do I have to worry if it's eating? What's it's common behavior?

They aren't active swimmers usually. Is he eating at all? If so I wouldn't worry much, as he gets more comfortable in the tank he will move around more.

I haven't seen him leave his hole, so I'll say he's not eating yet

I have had a couple, they all have been shy at first but suddenly they came out and started constantly eating algae off the rocks. Got them to eat pellets and flakes wicked easily. Now my current one is a fatty

Mine is always out and about, huge personality. He was skiddish for a few days but warmed up to the tank quickly, eats pretty much everything (pellets, mysis, LRS frenzy, flake). I find he does swim a lot more than the bi-colour I had previously, and loves to perch on the plating montis or zoa rocks rather than hide in a hole.

Good luck with yours, they're a wonderful fish!

This has been a must have fish in my tanks over the years, and usually they are shy at intro, but they come out after they adjust, and while they are not active swimmers, they are usually curious and often watch you.
Those 2 pics(cool pics!) are what mine look like looking at me all the time, I'm sure yours will come out and do the same soon

Hi, just checking, what other fish you have in there?

Oh man, ok give it some time, hes processing every fish in there.....and personally, i would watch the midas blenny and tangs

Tucking away in the rocks is completely normal for the first few days. He'll get bolder. They also are pretty easy to get eating just about any commonly offered foods.

My bad, I thought you were talking to me. That's what happens when you work midnights... Your brain doesn't work

Sounds like the behavior is to be expected, hoping he pops out in a couple of days!

The other fish I have are 2 clowns, 1 royal gramma, and a purple fire fish. Then a typical CUC

Your other fishes seems compatible, hopefully he starts pecking on the live rock soon....(but there are a few stories where royal gramma being bullies)

I just bought one today. I'm eager to see it again. After introducing it into the tank it sat on a rock for about 20 seconds then disappeared into the rocks.

It'll come back out soon I'd imagine. They seem to get more and more careless about the other fish in the tank as time goes on. Pic?

I was going to say the same! How long did that coralline take?

Btw, on day 3, he adventured out once. Hoping tomorrow it's twice :)
