I have had a clown and a six line for a while, and added a tailspot blenny nearly two weeks ago. Does anyone have any experience with dominance or marking territory with the latter two?

The wrasse initially watched the tailspot pick on rocks, and then would flash on the rock. Now, it’s the tailspot that watches the wrasse pick at critters in the rocks, and flashes. Is this them marking their territory, confusing each other’s dietary habits for their own? The tailspot will occasionally follow the wrasse and ‘puff up’.

With regards to flashing, I initially thought of ich, but neither fish has any signs. No white spots, hiding, or loss of appetite. The lifecycle of ich has surpassed the white spot stage in time, so I want to count it out.

Thoughts?

The six line is nasty. A TSB will hold its own generally, but I would get rid of the six line before it possibly kills the TSB, and get a pink streaked

The flashing could be external parasites, did you treat it in QT?

I don’t QT, and never have for fresh or salt. Dumb? Probably. But being in college makes having additional tanks hard.

I’ve read that the six line could get aggressive, but as of right now it’s the opposite. The wrasse has lost interest, and it’s the blenny that follows the wrasse around. His lil eyes are always trained on the wrasse. Perhaps I need to directly feed him?

When I didnt QT I failed, when I did, I succeeded, simple as that in my experience. Its not that hard once you get a process down, it just takes a little time and effort

If you dont QT, your fish will probably die and that's no fun to experience. 90% of people leave the hobby after a year out of frustration.

Right now your fish likely have external parasites and that wont go away on its own
