I would say great p/u and good luck. When I see a coral in this state, I would do the same. I've always wanted an elegance, but turned to sps and right now I have that bug! Please keep us posted on it's recovery and what your doing to assist it along.

Great for rescuing a coral in need. I also try and save corals. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. But at least I know I tried.

Yes I will document the progress and keep you guys posted

I have a little different outlook.I will never buy a sick or injured animal from a lfs for two reason. The first being that I dont want to take it home and have it die on me/infect my tank. The second being that if the lfs start losing money because its losing livestock I believe they would make an attepmt to fix the problem they are having. Just my .02

I tend not to buy rescues from LFS unless it's really cheap. We have an LFS here that will just let it rot and die before discounting it. I really don't go in there but I digress!

Here's a couple of my rescues.

Maze brain that Petco had live rock stacked on top of to make a cave.

Well so far keeping water parameters steady and not too high a flow. so far he's been opening up. When he was in high flow he was closing up. Im keeping my fingers crossed. I am really just doing daily observations to notice the slightest changes

7 bucks for an elegance is a great pickup. I have seen folks successfully cut the dead skeleton off an make an "cast" with putty on the exposed portion. It looks almost like the recession on that coral happen awhile and it has healed through it all. Maybe I am looking at it goofy though it is sideways :)

Elegence are IME some of the most beautiful coral out there and for me some of the hardest to keep. I have finally been able to keep one for over a year. Back in the early 90's the elegance corals that were out there were gorgeous giants and not affected by any diseases. Just don't see to many beauties like that anymore. Hopefully we'll get there again.

Good Luck I hope she makes it for you!

Kurt

I think it's very savable, I have a few pieces that looked way worst than that and they have fully recovered, just be patient.
