I have a all glass or aquen 210 display tank. Question is I want to take the plastic ring off the top mainly because it has two dividers on the top for glass covers. I want them out of the way for better light fill in my tank. I don't think it offers any support. How would I go about removing it.

What do you say?

I have a new build 100g tall with no cross bracing. Was thinking about removing the rim to get the rimless look. Glass is not tempered, which is in my favor for drilling, but strength is compromised. Passed this by R2R and was advised not to. 210g with 2 cross bracings, that's a big tank and there's for a reason for them; wouldn't advise it. If you do, test outside so if it fails the house is safe.
Another option may be to remove the rim and make cross-bracings out of acrylic. Some light can still pass through (probably not much though). Easiest is to move the lighting around to see how it affects the tank look.
