Taking on a difficult challenge (2 expert fish)

Is there any kind of filtration on that tank? Or a heater?
I just put in a heater actually, I don't really need one, the temp maxes out at 80° F and drops down to 72° but I put one just to be safe and for more stability, and for filtration, no there is not! I'm going to be doing waterchanges daily to every two days with reef crystals! I know, kinda wasteful and expensive

just a simple tetra heater

I'd probably still invest in a cheap HOB filters and seed the sponge in your DT or use bacteria in a bottle. Can never be too safe, and if you end up needing to treat with anything water changing daily and maintaining the right levels kind of sucks.

LOL so this is a crazy side story!! I hatched brine shrimp about a month ago and completely forgot about them because I thought they all died, and I just went to clean out the jar and there's about ten full grown brine swimming around in the jar!

This is why you need a filter, what if you forget about your water change!

That is normal for brine, when I was a kid I bought the Sea Monkey kit and tank, I left on my dresser after they all died. The next time I looked at it the tank was 3/4 empty and there were a few brine shrimp swimming in the green water.

By the way! This is my tank if you are interested. Still looks the same except there's a lot less algae bc I started feeding every two days and giving my tang less seaweed.

Have keep a morish for 3 years but lost him when I moved and had to relocate tank .Two very tough fish to keep .Would do a hang on back filter with the bio wheel it worked for me.for the QT.Good luck

Are you medicating the qt at all or just observing? Wondering if copper or any other meds would wreck havoc with the sponges on the rock and cause a die off?

My copperband didn’t think ouch anything until I got him live blackworms. Eventually he then decided to take mysis and clams on the half shell. Save some shells in case you run out and can’t find any more clams. I was able to put some LRS on an empty shell and then he ate it. Also try masstick.

If I have to medicate the tank I will remove the live rock! Thats interesting, if I have trouble I will probably first try to feed live brine and if that doesn't work I'll try some other stuff

I'd also like to point out that the largest tank I have to qt these to guys in is 15 gallons. I'm setting it up right now so it will run for 3 days before I get my fish. I'm using reef crystals and live rock from my fuge with some pineapple sponges, I have all the basic medicines for saltwater fish on deck already
I would definitely not put those fish in a 15 gallon tank. In my opinion way to small. If they aren't stressed out enough on arrival the small tank you are going to stuff them in will do the trick. I would rethink that. The Moorish idol will definitely hate that small of a tank. Liveaquaria.com has great fish, corals and a great warranty program. Check them out.

Well, in new york steelos video on youtube he states that he took his beaten up idol out of his dt tank and put him in his sump for three weeks and then back in the dt and he was fine so, I'm hoping for the best. And yeah, I've used live aquaria a couple times but each time I had fish that were DOA

I was supposed to have my fish already but instead I got this, I could not be more angry

well see if the fish are still alive, even if they are they are going to have lesser chances of survival from shipping stress

Sent from my SM-N915V using REEF2REEF mobile app

So I got the shipment today at 12pm, the moorish idol bag had a hole in it with barely any water and didn't survive [emoji17], the copper band seems to be okay and is now in the tank.
