New to reefing in a since. This past year I have taken over doing the maintenance for my dad of his 90 gallon tank due to health issues. He has been reefing for 18 years. The current version of the 90 has been up for 6 years. It has a blue tang (18yrs), yellow tang (18yrs), two clowns (12yrs), Blue/Green Chromis (2months), green star polyps, frogspawn, mushrooms, and. The sump has a protein skimmer, refuge for cheato(The cheoto hadn't been touched for several years so the other day I took it all out and left a tennis ball size in the refuge), bio pellet reactor, GFO and two socks. Lights are 1 Vega and 2 Hydras. Weekly maintenance is water changes if needed, stirring up the sand, putting in new socks, emptying protein skimmer. This version of the tank has had no dosing and the other version rarely had dosing. The water parameters as of today is 1.025, Ca 415, Mag 1305, KH 8, PO&NO 0, PH during the winter is 7.6. We have a backup/emergency tank in the garage which has become my own experiment tank. It only has live rock, Candy Cane(It has two heads that are ready to split), Frogspawn, green star poly and a lot of coraline. This tank has no sump. We had a extra Vega light with no heat sink so I found a heat sink that was the perfect size for it. It has been running for a year or so. Last water change was about 2 months ago and its water parameter as of today is 1.026, Ca 430, Mag 1410, KH 8-9, PO&NO 0, PH 8. Ever since taking over and having the backup tank as mine, I have gotten hooked. I have been going in the garage and looking at the tank looking at all the pods, snails, and watching the corals grow.
