I just finished fixing a leak. I was upstairs reading bedtime stories to my daughter when my phone started going off. It was one of my leak detectors and when I looked, specifically, it was the one I placed under the plumbing to the secondary tank I had placed just for this reason. I went downstairs and there was a slow, steady drip from the union. Not really a ton of water on the floor and the Apex had already turned off both return pumps automatically.
To say I was surprised, frustrated and scared in the immediate was an understatement. However, a couple minutes in I realized that it had A) happened during daylight hours when I could still run to Lowes etc for a couple things (the union is in a tough to reach spot and I ended up being a strap wrench) B) my alarms and programming worked perfectly to prevent forget problems and alerted me, C) it wasn't a huge leak and was relatively easily fixable and D) didn't occur a couple weeks ago when I was in Belize!
So while I was initially miffed, here I am 2 hours later and the problem is solved (I hope). It could have happened at a worse time in a lot of different ways, it could have been something more problematic leaking and it proved to me my system works. I'm gonna take the relatively good with the bad on this one and I figured that is the lesson to be taken from this.
