Hello Reefer's!

I've been in the hobby for 15+ years. I've had a few small saltwater tanks. Nothing over 55g. I've had 200+g freshwater tanks for the past 6 years. It started with a used 220g (6x2x30") from Craigslist. This ended when it exploded in my living room. I was devastated. My amazing wife surprised me with a 225g Deep Sea Aquatics tank, stand and canopy for christmas 2 years ago. I have had it running freshwater since. My excuse was always, "i'll go saltwater when we buy a house." Well we bought a house...

Sump is currently a standard 75g. No baffles. 3 socks, 2 laguna 2000 pumps, 2 heaters. I would rather buy a premade sump and sell the other. I'm pretty diy, but a sump is not my idea of fun.
I want to make this as low maintenance as possible. I'm going to start fowlr using led(current sat+) lighting. I will eventually go reef one day, but this is a few years away. I want pretty heavy stocking with a peaceful community. Tank is 6x27x27 with 3x1" drains and 2x3/4" returns.

So question time.

1) what sump should I get. I will be using the 3 drains as almost a herbie setup. Most of the water draining down 2 returns with a trickle down the 3rd.

2) Where should I order rock and what type of rock. I want to start with dry rock I believe

3) What sand should I get? And where should I order it from?

4) what skimmer would you get? I want overkill. Something that will easily the fowlr and the reef later on.

5) I want to get Kessel led eventually, would this work with my tank? And if so how many?

More questions to follow im sure...
I have a whole build thread on MFK for my tank, so I didn't want to post all that again. But my username is the same on there as well if anyone wanted to check out the tank.

This is what it used to be

Ok let's try with a more specific question. I'm looking at the tidewater sumps. Would the 36" work or should I just go with the 48". Does anyone have any experience with these sumps?

I feel it's about what you want to achieve with a sump.
Do you want a refugium section or is this for only equipment?
If you are able to fit the bigger that would be ideal for the volume.

Really I want something that is versatile. Something that can run as a basic sump with 3 inlets, sock holders, large skimmer chamber ect... but then also have room for a dedicated fuge or dosing pumps later on. The tidewater sumps seem like the answer to me. I have a standard 75g as a sump right now. So I could easily fit the 48" model.

That would be a great path to take!

Ok so the tideline 48" is amazing. The price sorry the sump isn't bad, but the shipping is a deal breaker for me. It's almost $300 to pallet ship it to my business address. The 36" tideline doesn't require pallet shipping but is smaller then I would like. It has a skimmer section of 10.5x17.5. The skimmer I'm looking at (sro5000) has a footprint of 11x17.5. Could anyone suggest a different premade sump (with 3 drain inputs) that would work with this skimmer or a different skimmer to work with the sump?

Update time.

So far I have ordered the following:

SRO 3000int skimmer
BRS 75gpd ro/di system
150gpd membrane upgrade
Tunze osmolator ATO
100 lbs of BRS Pukani dry rock (more coming soon)
Jebao dcs12000 pump

Going to be getting glass baffles for my 75g sump cut soon. Just cant decide on baffle heights. Still working on that.

Anyone see any issues with my current equipment? Any thoughts?

I think this might be to small for what size a display you have but there is a 39" trigger systems sump the emerald 39. It has the option to run 3 x 1" drains. It's not 48", but it larger than 36. I like the layout etc. It can be bought from BRS etc and with it's price tag shipping is free. Thought I'd throw that one out there given you are already looking at trigger systems. I really like mine, but I'm only running it on a 180 display.

You might also look at synergy reef they make good stuff. Uncertain of shipping etc. though.

Good Luck.
