...Talk Me Out Of It...

Hi all! I hope everyone is doing well.

A lot has happened in the past couple months-- I have gotten a full-time job (long, 12 hour days), I am starting full-time school in January & my son has become (extremely) mobile & very sick, sadly! Due to everything, it's taking a lot more to keep up with the tank. We have had two hospital stays with my son & this morning my uncle passed away. I've just been so busy & had my head in other places that I just don't seem to even have the time to enjoy my aquarium anymore... Does anyone have any encouraging words for me? : (

Things will pass. I went thur this awhile back 2 friends passed away my dad almost passed away. Worked out of town all week. The tank took a hit a little but it was nice to look at the tank and have a little enjoyment out of it. Stay strong!

Sorry hear about all of that.

What I say though is stick with it. If you don't then A, that is money and time that you have wasted putting into it already, and B, when you finally do have the time to enjoy it... then it won't be there to enjoy.

I agree with the other posters. Don't try to make a decision about your tank when you're struggling with emotions due to other unrelated events. Take a couple of deep breaths. Wait to see how the other events play out. I always say that you can wait just a little longer to make this big of a decision. Remember: Winners never quit and quitters never win! :thumb:

you have already decided to not give it up otherwise you wouldn't be asking us to talk you outta taking the tank down! go with your gut & stay in life will always hold things that make you busy don't let that keep you from doing the things you love cause thats what makes our lives great! sorry to hear about your little boy hope he gets better really quick

I would encourage you to make the time to enjoy it. First lighten you load by doing monthly rather than weekly water changes, for instance. And don't bother with anything difficult to keep. A couple of leathers and a pair of clowns are still interesting and worthwhile. Then change your photo period so that you have an hour or two after your son goes to sleep so that you might have a chance to sit near the tank and work on your homework, read a book, or enjoy a glass of wine and quiet time. Make it a source of enjoyment and not a chore. With a new baby, things are tumultuous. Find some personal time in there.

You will find that in time, the maintenance is a fairly efficient process that only takes as much time as you allow it to.

JSB said it perfectly. That is your "me" time, even if it's only for a few minutes a day. No matter how busy I am, I always try to sit in front of it every day. It makes me zone out...lol
