Tall Skimmers

I was once told that the taller a skimmer is the better it works, is this a fact.
I have been looking around and i don,t see very many tall ones, most are two feet.

The theory of having a taller skimmer would be to increase the dwell time to increase the contact time with dissolved organics for increased filtration, or to allow for higher internal water height settings. You could get one of the appropriate Reef Octopus skimmers and add the stackable neck extensions, making the unit taller.

The taller feature has been replaced by the use of counter current now and better impellors. I use to have a 5' skimmer that was powered by a venturi and pump. You can get the same or better skimming now with short skimmers
