Is 30 a tall tank? I really hate bending to look at my tank. Would like to have slightly taller tank. What you guys think about it? I’m 6 feet with longer arms.
60/30/30 would be my new reef. Want to keep mixed reef- acropora dominated.

Taller stand? When I set up a tank in my dining room I made the stand tall so it could be viewed while standing up. It was a 29 inch tall tank so it did not look out of proportion on the taller stand. All the commercial stands I have seen would have been too low even with a talker tank to be viewed fully while standing.

I used to own a 240G tank that was 30 inches tall, and it was a PITA to work on. Maybe if I had longer arms, it would have been easier, and I wouldn't have had to get wet all the time. That is just my opinion. It did look great though, and my wife still prefers the taller tanks.

My new tank is 26” tall and that’s as tall as I would go. I can’t imagine 30”

How tall would you do the stand?
My current stand is 36 inches tall. I built it myself so that I could make it taller for easier viewing. Innovative Marine makes stands that are 35 inches tall if you'd prefer not to build one.

I just started running a shallow / lagoon style tank so I did a custom 42" tall stand.

Do you own IM?

I would consider anything 30" and taller a "tall" tank.
I LOVE tall tanks, and I think they look great! But, as others have stated, it is difficult for most to reach the bottom section of glass for cleaning and more difficult to reach/place corals without the need for the step stool. I've always got my hands in the tank, so shallow tanks are my preference, and I'm 6'3".
In terms of stand height...I used to build my tank stands high as others have said, so that I could look into them comfortably when standing. However, as I've gotten older, I find that I much more enjoy my time spent in front of the tank while sitting, slightly reclined with the feet up, listening to my favorite music, reading or perusing the internet with my laptop. A nice drink on the table next to me!
My next tank build will be a shallow reef, 18" to 20" tall with a stand around 30" tall.

I originally thought a 30" tank was too deep but now that I have one I really like it. the only downside is cleaning the bottom few inches which can be a pain in the rear. 30×24×72 on a 36" tall stand I built

Good idea to use an equipment rack!
Haha not the first time someone thought it was an equipment rack... The PC-100A powerstrip def makes it look like one.

Just some basic 1x4 lumber
