Is there anyway to get a maroon clown to calm down. I have had a single maroon for about 6 years and never had this much of a problem with her. She is about 4-5" and is hosting 1-2 rbta's. Here recently the one nem moved and now she stays with the one. And she keeps kicking up sand and burying corals and keeps knocking all my corals over off the rocks and if she kills one of my nice corals I am going to kill her. Is there anything to calm a clown? Could I add another one to pair with? Any advice would help. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, I do not think there is much that you can do. It's possible that a new clown could make her more aggressive. That is if she even accepts a mate. :(

the exact thing happened to me one day a 6x6 tri color acro was on the sand. what the heck? it was fully encrusted on the rock so I glued & epoxyed it back on & next day on the sand again so this time I watched after replacing it & it was the maroon clown picked it right off the rock & threw it on the sand amazing! & then she started on the sand bed looked like she threw herself on the sand & then wallowed around making a huge mess wound up taking everything out taking almost all of the dsb out & any "offending" corals near the nem.the constant digging in the dsb was releasing nasties & everything was suffering for it this was my first fish 4 years ago so I also wanted to keep her but if she starts this bad behavior again...well it won't be pretty

If I change my tank around sometimes she will start clearing sand away from the anemone or the rock it is on. Once she moves everything to how she likes it she stops kicking sand up and calms down again. She is paired up but not mating yet. You can try clearing out rock/coral around her or just moving away what she clearly doesn't want by her anemone. I'm sure the behavior is hardwired by nature so you can deal with it and hope she stops after a week or so, or remove her. GL.

I've seen a very large maroon clown (very aggressive also) take a baby maroon as a mate. I think it is possible that a pairing may work for you but I do not know if it will "calm" her down, what you are witnessing is pretty normal maroon behavior IME.

In my experience the only way to add clowns is to add a larger clown. The new clown must be the largest. I've got five in my tank and no problems.

When a clown displays behavior I've deemed "undesirable" I find it helpful to poke em in the eye. Also I find that branding them "cattle-style" can break their spirit as well as providing ID should one successfully make a break for it.

I have a small maroon clown about a 1/2 inch would it be okay to add 1 more its in a 30 long with 1 Chulk bass small, 1 four stripe Damsel small, 1 diamond watchman goby small, 1 yellow tail damsel small, they all get along at the moment. But just want to know if it would be okay to add one more clown

Whoa! When the maroon, and two damsels grow up a bit you are going to have your hands full. I wouldn't add another damsel to the mix, especially in a 30. My 2 cents.

My maroon Clown will not allow anyone near her nem. She also has broken up a fight between my tangs. I do not keep any other corals close to her nem or she will not put up with it. I don't thimk there is anything you can do besides removing them.

Good to know thanks people at pet store said they'll be okay guess not I'm glad you said that and knowing Is half the battle thanks again.

I wouldn't try the pair, if it doesn't work you have a dead 50$ clown, if it does go well in pairing but they're still not calm then you have to catch two now

ROFL!! Kevlar gloves come in handy come tank cleaning time too.

I'd make the 55 a semi pred tank, mine has a snowflake eel, dwarf lionfish, and I'm looking into a maroon, I also want to add a trigger, but I would upgrade to a 125 to 180 gallon before
