Exactly what I purchased for my Nikon D3100 last year through photo4less.com. after a lot of research. I is a very nice lens for the money and captures very clear images. I really just need to spend more time learning the best settings for my LED lighting. Outside Macro Photography like Flowers etc.. is great.

Cheers, Todd

Thx TJ, few question if you don't mind me asking you... what do you have the remote shutter release timer, f stops, shutter
speeds, ISO, white balance, set at and are you tripod mounted w/pumps on or off? Thank you in advance!!!

I am no expert photographer by any means and had many others help me dial things in with capturing decent images under LED's. I initially spent WAY TO MANY frustrating hours trying to adjust the 'White Balance' to where it would show real colors and was directed to adjust F-Stop and Shutter Speed as primary control ??? It's been a year since I last took pics of my Reeftank with the Nikon DSLR as my cell phone is much easier in general. I do plan to start using again and will certainly use it more on my new tank to better record Coral growth.

As examples these pics below all taken 1/12/14 with info above each

F5, 1/100, ISO 800
#1 Favia close-up 1-12-14.jpg

F4.5, 1/125, ISO 800
Pink Bubblegum Chalice close-up 1-12-14.jpg

F4.5, 1/100, ISO 800
Fire-n-Ice Zoa 1-12-14.jpg

F5, 1/160, ISO 800
Babies Breath Favia 1-12-14.jpg

F5, 1/100, ISO 800
War Coral 1-12-14.jpg

I have some more images that turned out well somewhere that had lower ISO settings with faster shutter speeds but cannot find them off hand.

Cheers, Todd

Expert or not, you take very great looking pictures and have given me a direction to start with! Thank you sir!

By far this is the best value in a macro lens for nikon or canon.
Fantastic image quality and the price is a steal.
The only thing better (on the nikon side) is the Nikkor 105mm Macro and it costs 3x as much for 5-10% better IQ.
What you are paying for is the build quality/materials and the vibration reduction feature. I believe Tamron also now has a version of their lens with VR as well for quite a bit more than the standard version.

In a nutshell, you can not go wrong with the Tamron 90mm.

Thanks everyone!!!
I have Lr and Ps for editing RAW, can't wait for that lens to arrive and get busy practicing!

I picked up a used one on ebay for 200 bucks. I happy as can be. It's a bit old but for the amount of photos I take its great for me.

I'm not very good with my camera and I don't have a tripod yet.
