Yeah, I know I've got some hair algae going on- just picked up some more snails to help with that. But what's this tan/brown bubbly, fleshy looking stuff? It's not the easiest to capture, but it's light brown and almost looks like a spongy mat of fungus growing on a log in a damp forest, if that makes any sense.

Never run across that before the I can remember. I would guess sponge, but wild guess.

Kinda looks like Calothrix Algae...

I just realized that I have microscopes at work.....if I can get in there and grab some of that stuff off, I can check it out at up to 100x and see what it looks like!

Okay, I picked some of fleshy bits off, took them to work, and looked at them under the scope. To me, they look like slightly discolored leukocytes. There were no moving parts- no cilia or flagella- and there's no branching or hyphae. What do you think it could be?

Silly me posted this at midnight, guaranteeing that it would get buried in the shuffle. Daytime bump!
