If I were to add tangs, what order would I have to add to avoid aggression.

I'm interested in the yellow tang, hippo tang and sohal tang. (Tank is 180G aga)

If possible, I'd add all 3 at once. If not possible, I know for sure the sohal needs to be last.

Cool, my yellow tang is rather small still around 2" and hippo is around 3". I'm thinking about getting the sohal around 1-1.5" as I would like to see it grow. Any issues adding it last still? I've heard they are more aggressive than the other tangs

Since you already have the other fish, the sohal is still good for coming in small and last!

Leaving the lights off when adding and then for a day or 2 really helps also, and will not be detrimental to anything in the tank, I call it hurricane days, it is not always sunny over the ocean!!!!!

I would absolutely agree with the lights off, IME it makes a difference....

Kray, I think that tank is on the borderline. That fish will get huge but it will take awhile to outgrow such a big tank.

In addition to the "lights out" method, you can also throw a mirror up on one side of the tank and add a new fish on the other. It will keep the tangs busy for days!

I do this as well. It was entertaining to watch my powder blue hybrid kick his own butt all day long!

Or an acclimation box (I just got one and cannot wait to use it!) or a hamster ball. Lots of good tricks that you can use to curb the physical damage from aggression!

I have multiple tangs in both of my tanks and the "lights out" method and moving around the rockwork method has worked for me. Good luck with the Sohal. Definitely get it small, add it at the same time or last, and move it to a larger tank once the situation warrants it. I've never seen one of those fail to take charge of a tank with age.

I have a Sohal in my large reef tank, he's definatly got a personality. Sohal hast to be the dominate fish in the tank, if the other fish won't allow it then he'll kill them. Every time I put a new fish in there the sohal lets it know who's boss, if the new fish learns, he leaves him allone, if not he tears him up.

Depends how big those fishes are.

You can go backwards, but with the largest size last, you'll have the aggression problem.

Add them all simultaneously at best.
