On diet- trust me - its not an adequate diet. These fish need fats, omega 3 and vegetation in their diet. I have 24 tangs and there is no way they would survive on this diet

I am using the San Francisco Bay Brand Frozen Mysis Shrimp which again, is what I was recommended. Now with this, I was alternating days with this and I think it is called BT Chrome Boost or something(pellets), so they were only getting shrimp every other day. Every single day they got the hakari seaweed pellets though. Your tank looks amazing, so could you tell me exactly what you are feeding? You mentioned keeping water at 79, and I can do that but with the ink bird, it has a 1 degree variation either way, which means it could get to 78, 79, or 80 before turning on or off. Now My tank is always at 80 so if that 1 degree is such a big deal, that worries me that the ink bird isnt a good choice?
As for ammonia it has been at zero even with me over feeding it. I was also adding bacteria every day in the beginning when adding fish, on recommendation since there will be a new boost of ammonia with new fish waste, as well as additional food I added to the tank, so the new bacteria kept ammonia to zero but could that cause problems with a tang? I dont know how it would but Im just trying to think of anything I've been doing because I have followed the BRStv guide to the letter with diet, water parameters, etc so I have no idea what went wrong and I feel terrible for killing a fish.

When you look at various fish foods, their nutrition analysis will note the contents. Most quality fish foods will contain vitamin A, D3, E, K, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, Biotin, Choline, Folacin and omega fats and other protein.

I am using the Hanna ammonia tester. I tested it about a week ago and it was .02, then checked it again 2 or 3 days ago and it was .01. I also dont really think I am overfeeding. Everything i see on the internet says I probably am, but I just cant believe I am. With the Chroma pellets I drop in around 15-20 pellets(they are unbelievably small) along with 10-15 pellets of the hakari seaweed, and then on shrimp days I am just grabbing a pinch with my fingers, and soaking it in tank water before adding it. I have 2 emerald crabs, a cleaner shrimp, and a goby. I have never seen any extra food sitting around. In fact the crabs and goby would scarf it down as soon as it hydrated and was no longer a pellet. The tang would always swim around and eat it too. The first few days I added more and more since I never saw any extra ANYWHERE in the tank, but it got to the point where I knew I had to be overfeeding so I dropped it back down, even though I still saw nothing extra around the tank. When I do my water changes, I use the siphon to clean the sand bed.
I actually just thought about another possible cause. Last weekend, my brute trash can of saltwater somehow tipped over and 44 gallons flowed through my garage. Luckily nothing was damages, however since I lost all my water I had to make more but I didnt have enough salt to make enough for a water change. On Monday or Tuesday when I checked my water, my nitrates were getting pretty high and I was worried so I had to run to my LFS to get more salt so I could do a water change asap, but they didnt have my brand. They had another brand I hadnt heard of before, but they said I cant go wrong with it, so the water I did the change with had a different salt than their normal salt mixture, but in a 75 gallon tank I only changes about 8 gallons. I had 2 5-gallon buckets, that I filled roughly 75% each, and then added water back to the level it was at originally.

Would you have any recommendations on where/how I can learn more about about fish care? I have literally put 20 or more hours into videos and reading about it all. I look up proper care and diets, and literally everything I have read or watched has nowhere near the depth of information as the questions you were asking. None of them talked about the proper fats, omegas, stone airation, etc. You are asking me all new information that I havent learned yet, which frustrates me that I clearly wasnt getting the right information, so Im wondering what I can do to learn the proper information and do better in the future

Ok something is wrong with my tank. My wife just text me that our goby is now doing the exact same thing. He is upside down or sideways on the sand. Something is wrong with my tank. What should I do? I still have clowns and crab and shrimp in the tank.. What can I do or test to see whats wrong with the tank?

So now my tang and my goby were acting exactly the same way. When I first saw them they were laying on their sides on the sand. When they would move they both move the exact same way which was a little bit sporadic they would center themselves upright swim for a minute and then almost immediately go back sideways and slowly fall down to the sand. It's really weird that these two fish would be doing this one day apart and acting exactly the same way when they are completely different species of fish. My best guess as you mentioned earlier was lack of oxygen so I had to get a co-worker to cover for me I ran to the local fish store picked up the air pump and air stone and ran home real fast to plug it in. I checked on the goby and it was not looking good at all. It was still alive and barely moving so I plugged the air in and I have to head back to work but we will see what happens not you think that these two different fish acting exactly the same way so close together could be an oxygen issue or is it likely something else?. Side note my two clowns still seem fine.

Yeah, I posted right as you sent this, I rushed to the LFS to get an air pump and 2 air stones, rushed home and threw them in the tank. Goby is not looking great. He is still alive, but was upside down and hardly moving. Such a huge discouragement for the hobby
I put the 2 airstones in the tank, one right near where the goby usually is, and one in the middle of the tank. Im throwing out the vibrant. Whether or not it was the cause I cant be positive and I wont risk this again. The air stones are in the tank, clowns look fine. I did notice that I cannot find my cleaner shrimp nor the 2 emerald crabs. The crabs dont worry me because they always hide, but the shrimp is ALWAYS visible. I have no idea where he is. I asked my wife to do a 10 gallon water change while I was getting the air pump and heading home, just to get some temporary relief in the tank, and she is inexperienced in it and I think she put water hose in the tank too close to the sand bed, because when I got home the water was pretty cloudy with sand, so I couldnt see that well anyway, plus the addition of the 2 airstones, the entire tank was way too difficult to see anything, so I dont know if the shrimp was just hiding or if its in trouble either. The clowns were still swimming, although they were just huddles near the corner which is a little unusual for them. They are usually right up to the glass looking at me, however they have never been in a tank with the air pump before so they may have just been nervous about that? I just have no idea what to think or do right now. Im so nervous and anxious about my poor fish :/

I forgot to mention that in the above reply. I am working today and had to take lunch to run to get the airstone in the tank, so I didnt check salinity, but in a 75 gallon tank changing out 10 gallons, adding 40% to it wont make it too high, so when I get home I will check salinity and adjust it to 35% one way or the other.

Sorry for the 3 responses, but please make sure you see all three I sent you on this topic. My wife just text me saying one of the clowns were "suctioned" to the airstone I put in. She said when she went to move it away, it just floated to the top, so its dead. I am having a terrible day with this tank. How could an air stone "suction" a fish to it? Its pushing air through it, so it should be pushing things away from it, not sucking them in to it... I am so lost right now

Yes I know, you said mine was too low, so to get it higher, I had to make the water I add to it higher, to bring the display tank from 30 up closer to 35. The water I used for the water change was 40, so that it would increase the display tank's salinity
