I had a bit of a problem with some hair algae. LFS said a tang would eat it up. Sure enough the tang cleaned the tank up in a few days. Problem is, he ate the GSP too. Literally overnight. There's still some algae and I put the algae sheet in a clip, which the tang ate up, but I saw him picking at the two GSP clumps I have. All the polyps are now gone and just the gray base is left.

Are the GSPs dead now? Or will they come back? I kind of doubt they will come back because even though there is nothing green left the tang still pecks at them every now and then.

The tang noses around some of the other corals but clearly is picking at the hair algae around them.

He might have been nipping at them and caused them to close up? Never heard of that before,, what kind of tang?

I've seen sailfin tangs shred GSP and even zoas. It's possible there was algae growing on the matt of the GSP as well. If there's any GSP polyps or matting left then it will grow back, minus the tang of course.

Blond Naso tang. Both clumps s are completely shut. I’ve never seen them closed up like this if that’s what it is. When a crab or something crawls over them only the area touched typically closes up.
