there is no information here to work with. Pics and video under white light intensity will help as well as more info. . . . Is it eating, added sand, nitrate-salinity- ammonia and salinity levels.
Any aggression from other fish as examples

I have a scopas tang that has been great for about 6 months since I’ve got it and the past couple of days, he has just started breathing heavily.

First thing to do is ensure the tank has good aeration, not just circulation…if the tank has a protein skimmer, that is likely enough, otherwise you should add an air stone.

Then - you need to consider gill disease - could be flukes, protozoans or bacterial, in roughly descending order of likelihood.

When was the last time you added a new fish to the tank?
Are any other fish breathing faster than normal?

I have a Tunze Comline skimmer and Sicce 110 HOB filter.

Haven’t added any new fish. He was the last one added and that was in June.
The 2 clownfish aren’t breathing like that.

I got a hydrometer and it’s showing 1.028. I am working on lowering that now.

The timing is a bit long, but it could be gill flukes. Those more typically show up at less than 4 months, but they commonly affect certain species over others, so that could explain why the clownfish are fine.

Prazipro/Praziquantel are generally reef safe. You still run your skimmer, but don't collect any skimmate. Adding extra aeration during the treatment also helps. You dose it and then 8 days later, do a 25% water change and dose it again.
