Hi All,

I know as a general rule some tangs shouldn't Be kept together, tank size has a lot to do with this. My question is, has anyone kept a Powder Blue and Blue tangs together with success.

Regards
Michael.

I kept a PBT(Acanthurus leucosternon) and a Blue Hippo(Paracanthurus hepatus) together in a 180 for many years. I never had a Carribbean Blue(Acanthurus coeruleus), so I don't have any experience with them.

I kept a PBT and a Blue Hippo tang (and other tangs) for two years with no problem at all in my 150gl tank . The PBT died when my chiller stopped working and the tank crashed but the Hippo survived and now lives with a Sailfin Tang, Sohal Tang, Orange shoulder Tang and a Purple Tang and other fishes.

I've seen PBT and hippo tangs together frequently. Generally if the tank is over 150 gallons and the hippo is in first it will be fine.

Agree. Hippo are laid back but different enough that they don't usually bicker and hippo stay out of the nasty PBT's way.

Right now I have a powder blue, Achilles, powder brown, sohal, carribean blue, purple, Desjardini Sailfin, Kole, and chevron tang in my 180 they get along fine.

The more you have it seems the better they handle being together. Keep them well fed, too.
