So after years and years I decided to get a clown tang. Little guy was cheap and was eating PE Mysis. Only problem is I can't get him on nori. I need suggestions on how to get him to eat it. He's currently in QT and I'd like to get him fattened up before he goes in my DT

I had the same problem. I was feeding with a veggie clip and I think my tang had no clue what it was lol.

I put the nori on a price of rubble rock with a rubber band. Then I placed it on the sand where he normally swims / hides and wolla!

My tang started eating. Try that

Thank you! I will try that, I've got tons of rubble, should I start with a small piece of nori I'm guessing?

I use Seaweed Extreme. It is little balls of seaweed and my tang loves it. A little pinch at feeding time and it spreads around the tank and he spends the day picking at it.

Try soaking some small pieces with the mysis as you defrost it. Once he starts eating that, it should be easier plain.

I’ve had tangs in the past that wouldn’t go near nori, until they were in a tank with another tang and saw them eat it. Sometimes they eat better seeing others IME.

Try soaking the nori and then break it apart and put it in the tank.
It took a while for that first fish to go for the nori on the clip. Then all the fish will follow it.
If you already have fish in DT that's eating from the clip, I wouldn't worry about it as long as the new tang is eating something in QT.

I had the same problem recently bought an additive (selcon vitamin fish food supplement) soaked food and tang went crazy for it. I also use garlic in feedings, and have fat healthy fish. Patience is also important, i have found clown tangs can be a little shy sometimes.
