Would i be able to get say a Tomini or a Kole for a 72 bow? wife is Getting a new reef tank for me for christmas, so build thread will happen once i start getting it going.

Trying to plan out the stocking ahead of time so i can have a master plan.

Thinking
Leopard Wrasse
Hawkfish
Pair of Smaller Clowns
Starry Blenny
Diamond Goby
trio if possible of anthias, or a school of chromis.
Royal Gramma
One spot fox maybe?

Any suggestions are welcome. If anyone gets to big, they can graduate to my 220 :)

Yeah tominis are a great choice for the smaller tank they stay small and are peaceful plus are good for algae control. Mine is in a 120g but wouldn’t have any issues putting him in a 70 or 80g tbh

I'm leaning towards the tomini, as I've had horrible luck keeping a kole alive. Can keep others, but darn koles...
Yeah Kole tangs can be finicky eaters but if you can get on e that’s eating you should be okay

Tomini tangs are very hardy and from my experience eats basically anything

Tomini for the win on a small tang for the bow.

Also, if you want clowns and a one spot fox face, hop over to our reef club selling/trading section.

@palvyre has 2 very healthy clowns and a fat one spot foxface he is getting rid of. I saw both in person today and if I had room would have taken them. You could fuge the clowns and the fox for now since your fuge is massive on the 220 lol.

Not a bad idea. It could be a few months before I even cycle the 72. I gotta tear carpet out and lay new flooring first.. in excited, as much as I didnt "need" another tank, it will be nice to have a reef of my own again. I'm doing this one right. Starting with a drilled tank, will make room for a dosing unit etc.

The first kole lived for a few weeks, seemed to eat well, but I'm not convinced that my yellow at the time didn't bully him to death. Tried a second when I had the 125, and it wouldn't eat.. as much as I love the coloring, I've never had a tomini, so hey why not??

Yeah koles are one of the most stunning fish tbh but tominis are beautiful too and so much personality!

I think will add the tomini to the master plan list.

here’s mine out and about they are very active which I love and he’s buddied up with my scribbled rabbit they swim together all day, share food etc

The Tomini would be arguably the best and only Tang I would recommend for that tank. They also aren't the open water swimmers that many other tangs are and prefer to graze in and around the rockwork so it makes them a better fit for a smaller tank.

Yeah mine has his own cave in the rock work and hangs around that darting in an out of the rocks and doesn’t really hit the open part of the tank that often

Looking forward to seeing it once you get it into the display!
Thanks! The tank itself is a Christmas present, and I have to change the flooring from carpet to rubber plank before I can set it up, but hey what's one more tank right?

They can be bullies. Any tang can be once settled mark their territory. I try to add them towards the end of my stocking where possible however I did the same as you and added this tomini towards the start as I saw him and couldn’t resist... so hopefully I don’t regret it haha

I have a tomini in my 75g and hes great. A little rough with new fish but settles down relatively quickly (a couple days or so)
