Hello all,.

I put in my first fish tang (dory) in my new tank yesterday, doing very well however I notice there is a single white dot on his body, should I worry or it will just comes off by itself, please help.

Welcome. :-)

Welcome.... My advise to you is to research and collect as much info about this wonderful hobby as you can. Tangs in general are very ich prone. If you didn't quarantine and treat the tang then more than likely it's ich. Pictures will help us verify. Nothing good happens fast in this hobby. Please take your time and research the proper care of the animals you intend to keep.

Pics would help. Also if your name is your tank setup prepare yourself for massive flaming.

Actually that really does not happen here I am proud to say.:p

Definitely looks like ich... Unlikely he will survive ich especially in a 29 gallon tank.

I assume you're new? Good luck on your tank! They say ich can be on the tang already and stress will bring it out. Stress for him can be changing tanks with new temp/environment/water parameters. I got ich in my tank after adding a little too much calcium (well that's how I think it happened..). I'll let someone else reply about what it is.
In my case with ich you're going to need to take the fish out of the tank. Put them in a new tank with copper in it. The copper will kill corals or invertebrates at lower levels which is why you don't put it in the main.

hard to tell but does look like ich. Wasn't it there before you put him in your system? I ask cause I seen my tangs pick up sand on their body and I freaked out thinking they had ich and then 2 seconds later I see it fall off.

As stated above tangs can get ich quickly. If you can I would follow @Frop suggestion and get a QT tank setup for treatment. Even if its not ich its wise to QT all your fish before adding them to your display tank.

Some questions
1. How large is the tank?
2. How long has the tank been setup?
3. Was anything added after/with the tang?
4. Was the white spot there at the LFS?
5. What other tank mates are in the tank?

Welcome to R2R @Biicube29clownandtang

If it's still there tomorrow then I'd call it ick. If it's gone after a few hours or in the morning then it's probably just a bit of sand stuck to his slime coat. Qt is the best practice if you're going to be keeping tangs. Though to keep them stress free I'd suggest a larger tank for that Regal Tang. Maybe an upgrade in the near future. Until then, if the spot is still there in the morning, start up a QT and put all the fish in there to treat. Here's how to set up a QT... http://reef2reef.com/threads/how-to-quarantine.189815/ And how to treat for ick once the QT is up and running... https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/copper-treatment.193343/

I wish you great luck! I'm glad your here on R2R with us!

I've been looking for a regal tang for almost a year here in Florida, my reef guy is very selective and says the selection of healthy tangs is usually very slim. I had a tang years ago and it lived a long time but every one I've seen lately at the LFS looks lethargic. Good luck, hopefully it'll pull thru and welcome to R2R
