After going to my LFS and saw a yellow eye Kole I couldn’t resist I introduced the Yellow Eye Kole Tang into my tank, in hopes my Scopus Tang would be fine with it seeing as they are different Genus. But that didn’t go as planned so I had to put him in a breeder box and hopefully he will get over his aggression toward the Kole, my LFS owner said to leave him in there for about a week and feed him once every two days and let the yellow eye acclimate and do his thing. Any other tips or advice for hopefully making this work?

Definitely feed him more than every 2 days. Let the Kole settle in for a few days and let him get established. For future reference but any new additions in the breeder box before adding to the DT. How big is this tank?

got it, thanks. The tank is only a 35 but the tangs are quite small and I obviously plan to give them up when they outgrow the tank.

Unfortunately you may never see aggression go away. I would not even attempt to keep a tang in a tank mallet than a 55 and even then only 1. It’s not so much about the size, as much as the amount that species of fish has to swim. When keeping multiple, you have to worry about territory disputes. And a 35 just isn’t big enough for 1 much less 2 tangs.

-Zack, who recommends never impulse buying.

Lol. The one alone seemed to be doing great so I guess one will have to go back. :(

You can try before you make that decision, but I just don’t want you to be to frustrated_if_ it doesn’t workout.

Tangs need big tanks and lots of food to be kept together, if you can’t meet those needs Id definitely pick the one you like more because they probably will never end up getting along. I’ve kept 10 tangs in my 125 before but feeding was heavy to calm aggression
