So a few months back I had an ick breakout & lost most of my fish. Its been 3+ months fallow & I'm going to start looking for fish again. I've ordered a 4" Achilles from Dr Reef (Quarantinedfish.com), I saved a 4" purple tang from the original tank, I want to buy a small tomini, I have a 3" yellow in another tank I was considering & yesterday I bought a tank from a guy who had a small 3"-4" Fowleri tang (will the Achilles fight with the Fowleri?). Of the 4, the Fowleri would be last on my list to keep; + I know they get large.

So, what would be the best way to introduce these fish to my tank?
1) All at once
2) By Size
3) By Aggression
4) Doesn't matter

Should I leave any out? Like if I add the purple should I skip the yellow?

Tank is 105g. I had to tear the tank apart when I chased down my fish to out them in QT from the ick, so the rocks have all been reworked & for the purple it will be totally new, no established areas.

Wow, lots to dissect in this post.

First, I hope that you have some sort of plan for your new fish, since you seem to be sourcing from local reefers, online shops, your surviving stock, etc. Whether that be TTM, copper or UV. I assume that you treated the surviving fish too.

Second, a 4” Achilles is going to get a bit aggressive in a 105g soon. I had a 105g (rsr525xl) and had an Achilles in there. Once he his 5” started to get more aggressive and it’s one of the reasons I upgraded.

Third, A purple and a yellow can be housed together, but there could be more aggression there there too. Overall, I think that you’re planning for too many tangs in a relatively small tank (including the Fowleri). Not to say it can’t be done in the short term, but I wouldn’t do it.

Lastly, in order of my preference:

add at the same time (the purple and the yellow for sure
add more aggressive fish last

size is less important.

Thanks. Was a little worried about adding 4-5 in 1 tank.
So the achilles is going through QT, I treated the purple with copper (followed humble.fish), the yellow is mine & out of another tank (I have 6 running right now).

When I buy a tomini it will go through copper & 30 day QT then into observation.

The Fowleri is the wild card for me. It is out of another guys tank & he has had it & his other fish for about a year. It will go through QT before going in my main tank, as will ALL fish now that ick wiped out $1000+ worth of fish. :(

I would be happy with just the Achilles & Purple, or add 1 more to that mix.

The Purple has never really shown any agression, but they can get angry.

I’m a little late to this party but personally I would just stick with the Achilles and purple tang and choose other types of fish to to fill the tank with. Your 105 gal will be to small for the soon enough. That being said if you decide to add the yellow I would still but it in a qt tank with copper just to be on the safe side. In March I transferred my fish from one tank to a new one (larger tank) and I’ve had all fish for 3+ years next thing you know someone fish looked like the we’re infested with ick and some red velvet.
