Tang Help?

hi,what size tank? :)

To keep the tangs together I can say I have successfully done so. But sailfins get pretty large and 110 isn’t gonna be big enough in the future. I have about a 2” tomini tang with a sailfin that’s 7-8” never see any aggression between the two, but I do have other tangs to ease target aggression.

yes, i think they will do fine together, sailfin is going to out grow tank though ,give it a year, two at most :) happy reefing

In a 110 I would urge you to only consider the smaller Zebrasomas. That means Yellow, Purple, Scopas, Gem ($$), Black ($$), and only if the tank is at least 4ft long, 5ft even better. Sailfins need at least a 240, 300+ even better.

I’ve been doing surveys on the max sizes of the smaller Zebrasoma and it seems like the general consensus is 8” fully grown is considered pretty big with 5-7” being the expected maximum size most of the time.

IMO for Bristletooths in a moderately / decently stocked tank at least a 75-80 that’s 4 ft long, 90 even better.

Even if a Sailfin tops out at 10-12” that’s still pretty darn big.

The sailfin is 2-3” and by the time he is about max size i will have a bigger tank ready. He was given to me as a gift from a family member who isn’t familiar with the hobby.
