It’s between:
If it’s from the Pacific:
- Acanthurus nigroris
- Acanthurus leucocheilus
- Acanthurus dussumieri
- Acanthurus nigrofuscus
If it’s from the Atlantic:
- Acanthurus bahianus

Heres some photos from the book I’m getting these names from, I can’t see any pattern so it makes it hard to get an identification on this end but maybe your end could.

That’s what I would go with from what the book shows, another easy way to knock out Acanthurus tangs is what ocean it’s from. If it’s from the Pacific then you knock out 6, if it’s from the Atlantic you’re left with 6 commonly seen in the hobby.

Very cool, what book is that btw?

It’s Surgeonfish, rabbitfish and their relatives. It’s very useful for this type of stuff and also helps to show more fish I don’t see as often over here.

I don't think it's a lavender unless the picture isn't showing enough detail. Every lavender I've seen has the dots on the face that are easily seen. They also go by Freckled Face Wrasse. They are very obvious on mine.
