Tang in a 250L ?

This year we are renovating and with this I have space for a larger tank.

I’ve had my heart set on a Red Sea 250 but noticed blue tangs (which I wanted) need closer to 350litres as a minimum.

Does anyone keep tangs in a 250 ? Is there any more suited for this e.I yellow ?

You might be ok with one of the smallest species - but tangs generally prefer lots of swimming area.

UH OH... you need to remove this post before the Tang police see it...
Maybe you can use the 250L as a QT tank before you move it to a public aquarium size tank...

I had a Kole tang in 300l (130cm length) for some time and I wouldn't do it again. He was ok there, but not enough space for swim. He is now happy in 320cm long tank after upgrade

You can easily get a small one and care for it until it outgrows the tank...
If the tang has outgrown the tank you can either: upgrade your tank (which does most likely not happen and is just a justification) OR sell it to someone with a big enough tank.

Its possible to get a juvi one and keep it for some time.

BUT.... make a plan how you treat it when it has outgrown the tank BEFORE you add it.

edit: blue tangs grow VERY fast... maybe you are better with a smaller one.. scopas, yellow, tomini for example..

I think alternatively a yellow tang would be nice..maybe looking into rehoming after a few years would be the course of action. Thanks !
