Long story short, I got burned and had to pull all my fish and start a QT.. to allow the DT to go fallow

Adding first dose of coppersafe (increasing over 3 days to 1.75).. 24 hours later and my tang has black marks on its face..

Now the tang was a bit crazy to catch and got a few rock scratches in the DT while being caught... however this doesnt look like damage as it's fairly uniform around the mouth..

Any ideas? (Sorry for bad pics)

^^^ I agree with bruising but keep an eye out for secondary infections starting. What are you treating the fish for?

Should have said copper power... treating for ich (I think)

Secondly question... I added the right ml of copper power and the API test is barely registering... doesnt look like I have more than the 1 color... when I should now have the full amount 1.75...

Any tips on the API?

I tried API and several others before I bought the Hanna Copper Checker. In keeping with many other way more experienced reefers, no other test seems to compare to the Hanna Copper. I know it's more expensive, but it's part of your quarantine gear. I would not attempt Copper treatment without it.

The API test is horrible and will make you think you’re going blind trying to figure out where on their spectrum you are. Definitely invest in the Hanna checker (high range copper) and I would buy two extra boxes of reagents (25 in a box) so you have enough. The checker only comes with 6 reagents if I remember correctly.

Yea I got that.. unfortunately it's not in the budget right now.. so I need to make due with the API for now, especially since these fish need treatment asap
