My purple tang had one of his spikes caught in the net and while trying to get free he seemed to get his whole backside bent out of shape.....now his body is like an S.

Anybody ever had this?

This why I don't like using nets, if at all possible. Below is a square colander (bought at Kohl's) that makes for a better fish transport than using a net. Or just use your hands (but also wear gloves).

I sometimes feed them with a net so they are easy to catch if need be. This I guess is one of the downsides....I was even able to take him out, put him in QT then put him right back without chasing him at all....

IME; a fish's spines & scales are less likely to get tangled in a fine mesh net. Like a brine shrimp net.

Ya I'm thinking about doing that.....I need to find a really big one though

+1 That's what I use and so far so good on no injuries when I have no other chooses.

A specimen container is the way to go if you need to catch a fish safely. I use a large one and corral the fish on the container.
