So I got a Yellow Tang and introduced it to the tank( after QT). I put him in the tank in the evening, as the lights were dimming. He went into the largest cace which happens to be claimed by my White Tailed Bristletooth. They began tail fighting in there. It lasted until the lights went out. The next day and everyday since I have seen no fighting and they at times, share the cave.

The White Tailed tang did receive injuries on both sides near his scalpel.. They appear to be abrasions, with one being a little deeper wound. He is still active and eating well. There is probably no way for me to catch him..

I am assuming in the wild they are injured often- but is there anything I could or should be doing???

Thanks.

One nice thing about saltwater aquaria is the ability of fish to heal quickly and naturally
Keep an eye on what should be healing
If you feel the need to help, Melafix will aid in healing
Assure a good diet and water quality which will help

As stated you should be fine and tangs can be territorial as a lot of fish but they should calm down pretty fast. I would keep an eye out for a week or so as if they don't calm by that time you may need to step in. Odds are it will be fine

Thanks- they seem to be all good now, the two of them and the Foxface cruise around together and look for algae. They do share the cave, I think it was just the first day.
