Tang quarantine eating dilemma

So I am setting up a tang gang for the new 250 gallon and I have all my new tangs in a 5' 110 for quarantine. There is a large naso, medium vlamingi, yellow, small sailfin, tiny Hippo, medium adult chocolate, a magnificent fox face and a small blue throat trigger. I started them out in 1.0 ppm copper power (tested with Hanna checker) and slowly raised the levels to 1.75. Everyone started eating except the naso, so I removed all copper and he is eating, but only somewhat. He'll eat live blackworms and peck at some pellets and frozen reef fenzy, but he ignores nori. Just for fun I put some algae covered rock in and he took to it pretty well. So my dilema is how long to wait before starting back with copper, as I'd like to get them into the larger display tank.

I've been feeding general cure soaked fish frenzy, but he hasn't seemed interested. He looks healthy, but may have a pinched stomach. I'll get more worms this weekend, but after reading how temperamental they can be, I'm likely to keep the copper out until he's eating with gusto. I'm just worried he's not going to feel comfortable until he's in the bigger tank.

I would raise the Cu level back up. If he stops eating a second time, you'll probably need to move him into his own QT and find an alternative method for QTing him. CP would work: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/chloroquine-phosphate.192309/

I agree with raising copper as soon as possible. Nasos are finicky anyway. I have one in QT now that took several days to get eating. (He didn't start until about three days after copper was fully therapeutic) Actually comes out of copper this weekend.

You could offer live brine as well if you have access to some at a LFS.

+1 on possibly moving to his own QT that way you can start working on his eating habits without delaying treatments for the others.

Thanks, the only other tank I have is a 40 breeder, which is kind of small for a big naso, but I have ebay cp on hand. I asked a few vets locally but got the cold shoulder ;( I'll start copper again this weekend. The lfs was out of live brine the past week, so hopefully tomorrow, but I will definitely get black worms as they're a hit.

If he’s eating blackworms he will probably begin eating other food. My blonde naso at @HotRocks was a bit finicky at first as he said, now he’s a pig. Love the streamers, mine looks very similar! Mine is probably 7 inches, if it’s 5-6 inches it’ll be fine in a 40 for quarantine, stand-alone, IMO.

I have the 40 breeder and a 57 deep blue plumbed together for a coral quarantine system. If he stops eating I'll have to split them up and do cp... We'll see how he does when copper goes in. Thanks all!

The naso started nipping at the nori this evening, so I guess he's just learning how to eat it. I suppose he wasn't in the lfs as long as I thought. But at least we're going in the right direction!

They can eat voraciously at the LFS and a change of environment can restart everything. They’re very strange fish in that way, although adults are generally much easier.
