I have a baby tomini tang he is only an inch long. I just put some chemi clean in but within The past 30 minutes he has been shaking like clownfish do when the mate or whatever. Does anyone know this behavior? He is just so small I don’t want anything to happen to him. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

That doesn't sound normal. How long have you had the fish and how long has the tank been set up? how big is the tank?

He started shaking after the chemi clean specifically? Sounds like it could be irritating him somehow.

I got him Sunday and the tank is a 75 gallon. He was perfectly fine before I put the chemi-clean in the tank but it says that it’s is safe for fish and all that so I’m not sure. I also did a water change and need to add more water from that and the water was a little bad but I didn’t put more than a gallon or 2 before I realized it was bad.

Attack on his central nervous system. Chemi can strip O2 quickly out of water

WATCH gills for rapid breathing or hanging out at the top of tank

You really should be aerating your DT with an airstone thruout the chemi process

I don’t have an air stone but I was told very clearly I need to Oxygenate the water. So I have a big hang on the back that is dumping water , my wave makers are angled up to the surface and my canister filter is doing the same as the hang on but if you think this is the cause let me know I’ll do a water change Bc I love that fish. Also in my opinion I think that I am doing a good job trying to oxygenate the water but I have no way of testing that.

What do you mean the water was « bad » ?
Sorry. I don’t really know but my whole R.O.D. I set up is in my basement. So when I leave the buckets down there to mix for an extended period of time the water/buckets will smell and whenever I wipe the inside of the buckets the water then I wipe it’s like yellow. So what that is it sucks but I dump it out

Also he doesn’t appear to be breathing heavily but I can’t see for sure

I've been keeping saltwater tanks since the early 90's and have always stayed away from the weird chemical fixes.....accept once.....I tried chemiclean for a bad cyano outbreak. I usually just wait for things to run their course but I decided to give it a try. About a month after using chemiclean I got a horrible dino outbreak that took 6 months to clear. Never again.

it should be pretty cold in Georgia . jokes aside its pretty odd but I have seen freshwater fish shaking when under stress .can I have a reading of your Ph and Kh if possible ?

I have Dinos, cyano, turf algae, hair algae, and other stuff. I kinda work at my lfs and a friend of mine told me this would work to clear up most of it all.

So for PH my digital tester readers 8.4 and my api test says oh is 8. And for KH it is at 10

That is kinda what he is doing. If anyone knows

Chemiclean is 100% reef safe if dosed correctly. You do need to run your skimmer during the process which will over flow and spray so I run my normal but hang an ice cream bucket over the top upside down to prevent spraying everywhere from over flowing skimmer . Also some people run an air stone or angle pumps at the surface while using chemiclean. It lowers oxygen levels in the tank.

Hope this helps your little tang ! :)
