Hey,
I‘m going to start a 120 gallon mixed reef tank. I want a tang trio as I heard that is it better to have a few tangs instrad of 2 as this will reduce aggression and they will form a higher archy. I wanted a purple tang, tomini tang and a powder blue tang but the powder blues‘ are very ich prone. Can u please tell me what will be a good third tang which I can have with a purple and a tomini. Thanks

Have you thought about a fox face rabbit fish? Would be good and add a pop of yellow, if you really want another tang have a look at mimic tangs

I wanted a fox face but I heard that they sometimes nip at corals. I don’t want to take that risk and also because I don‘t feel comfortable having a fish with a venomous spine in the tank ask don‘t trust my friends. They may just put their hands in there. I will take the mimic tang into consideration but my parents don‘t like how it looks. Are there any other options?

What dont they like about the mimic tangs? If its colour there are 2 real colours lemonpeel mimic which imo gets ugly as it ages and the half black mimic tang which is the prettiest of the mimic tangs.

Let me share my personal experience with my tang trio!

My black tang (6”), powderblue (5”), and whitetail bristletooth (4”) all get along in my Red Sea reefer peninsula 500 :)

Actually, I used to have a gem, purple, yellow with the black and powderblue but got rid of them so I can add other fish like wrasses and anthias. The black and powderblue got along well when I removed the gem, purple, and yellow. When I added the whitetail bristletooth (three weeks ago), the powerblue gave him a hard time (but no major issues). I placed the whitetail bristletooth in an acclimation box for 4 days, and before releasing him, I added some rocks and placed a mirror outside the tank. After about a day and a half, and they all became best buds :)
I highly suggest getting fully quarantined fish or quarantine them yourself. Hope it goes well for you! :)

Also adding the new tangs at night tend to increase the likelihood of them not murdering eachother, especially of similar species.

Oh yes I did that too! And I even covered the tank so it’s pitch black. The next morning, the powderblue just attacked himself (mirror trick) and that evening, I removed the mirror. In the morning, the black and powderblue accepted the bristletooth :)
