I feel like maybe we should be more proactive on following a TTM procedure while ramping up copper in cases of emergency even if we eventually find that the lifecycle is too unpredictable for good success with TTM alone. The reduction of new attachments must be hugely beneficial for the fish.
From my POV, one of the main advantages to TTM is being able to treat the fish in a non-chemical environment. If copper is used, it must be ramped up to full therapeutic as subtherapeutic can mask symptoms of velvet. Which then comes back to bite you in the butt up to a month later.
