Tangerine's Lagoon 25

Hey! Breaking down the 14 for this sweet 25 lagoon. What a great looking tank! This will be a Softie and LPS tank and will be Frag City for the most part. Going with sand instead of bare bottom, and I will pass on a skimmer. I may add chaeto and chemipure elite, but I'm not sure how the water chemistry will actually end up. Its going to be an adventure of fun!

It does! I really like it. All of the other furniture in the room but one piece is white so it was nice to have it fit in. I'm a little terrified I put it together wrong and it is going to explode but I'm sure it will be great!

Using 50% old sand and all rock from the biocube, it was a quick cycle if any. Here is that picture! Right now have the heater in the display...i'm worried that the temp sensor is too high and sticks out of the water. I do have a way to solve that though.

2 Days ago accidentally bumped the heater to 80, and all of the corals hated it! Otherwise, diatom bloom is going away. Things are looking good.

Woah sorry I missed that!

I really do love the dimensions on this tank. Based on my filling it, the actually water volume was close to 20 gallons with the sand and the rock, so if you want a bit more than that, I would go with the 50. The back compartments are pretty small, and was not able to fit a baby bag of chemipure elite in the media basket. I got it in a second compartment no issues though. Due to the large surface area, evaporation is pretty bad. Saving up for that ATO which is pretty necessary.

Still getting mixed results with the coral though. Some love it, some hate it, but I think that is my lights which I am trying very hard to dial in to what the corals will like, and bubble algae is just a few weeks from getting out of control.

The good news is that the tank is not as neglected as this thread!

Over the past few months I have invested a lot into better testing and water chemistry control, starting with the ATO. I am having some issue with acans in my 35 cube, so i am working hard trying to fix that. There were few LPS in the Lagoon, limited to 2 small acans, candycane, and a frogspawn. Frogspawn is doing only fine, but one of the acans and the candy canes have both come back from the brink, which is good. I moved my wall hammer up here since my clownfish was loving him (hosting) past the point I was comfortable with and was starting to worry about the hammer. Hammer sees happy.

The chemi pure elite and purigen are now removed, with phosguard in the media basket. I have also filled the chamber next the the media basket with Marinepure ceramic balls. This is to transition to a bare bottom tank. I know I'm going to have bits or even pockets of sand in the tank forever, but I'm looking to grow zoas on the bottom of the glass and have the flow a little higher. If this is just stupid, let me know!!!

Next up, the other major change is to keep nitrates higher around 10-15, and keep the tank free from SPS if possible. I have been seeing great growth on some of the zoanthids/palys, especially the sunny D's. I even got a full recovery on a zoa colony that almost vanished for whatever reason. Tank is feeling good, just hoping that it can help recover / keep healthy acans.

Only thing I am thinking of getting is a baby reactor and do 2/3 carbon 1/3 GFO to keep those phosphates down!

Trust me, there is tissue growth on these. They are fighters.

If you did not believe me on the last one, you wont here. But this acan has doubled it's tissue in the past 2 weeks. He ate a mysis shrimp this morning.

This is a mushroom.

2 weeks old. Should get new heads soon. Do not grow as fast as sunny d's. I love these colors too. Have 4 frags!
