Well, not really Peter pan and rufio, But I can only imagine the fights for dominance in "Never Never Land"(new tank) and the risks and complications I am going to face soon.

Background:
So I ran into Ich, about a month ago, pulled all the substrate out and came into ownership of a 125g perfecto 72" x 18" x 23". All my livestock that survived are in the 55 currently, and just completed their cupramine treatment, cured and healthy ready to go.

The 125g has 6 weeks appx left till its ready (running it fallow). And my (new)QT is 2 weeks, cycled, ready for newbies. (10g)

The ich survivors are as follows, largest to smallest:

1 powder brown tang (3.5inches)
2 Clowns (1 davinci, 1 snowflake) - about 2 inches each
6 line wrasse
1 blue/yellow damsel

Naturally, the PB Tang is boss. And here is my issue... I want more fish, at least 1 more tang, maybe 2. Not sure which yet, but avoiding the very large breeds either way.

Should I get them now, QT, and introduce the new fish to the new 125 DT when Fallow period is done and get them comfortable first, and then add the originals? Or should I try to say, add all the non-tangs first, and then bring the Powder Brown and New tangs in together, but last to avoid takeovers and bullying?

I gotta figure this out now, I have 6 weeks before I introduce them all to the new DT when fallow period is complete, and I would like to avoid playground fights on the first week of school if I can by controlling who goes in first etc..

Opinions? Experiences?

TIA

@4FordFamily I've been told you are the man to see. I have sifted through many threads but I feel like my circumstance is a bit unique, considering I have only 1 tang, and it tops your list for aggression. (fell in love and cloudnt help myself when I saw him)

He gets along fine with my list, everyone seems to just get out of his way... no problems ever. But when considering a "less" aggressive breed to add in, I just wanna know if my odds will improve for it if I leave the PBT for last on introductions to the new tank? Perhaps make an acrylic-see-through acclimation basket as well? helps. pwease.

I would get the new ones now and start your QT process. I'd add the most docile first. What tangs are you thinking? Bristletooths especially whitetail would be good starter. I'd leave the PBT for last no matter what and the 6 line. They can wreak havoc.

Edit... powder brown... not sure if it makes a big difference.

@HairyGary that's what I'm thinking I'm gonna do.. but wanted opinions first

Hey Rich,

I’d recommend adding tangs together. I’d also recommend a zebrasoma and a bristlooth if you want to do two tangs, and I would add them after the others are settled in. This will also get your biofilter working a bit first as tangs are high bioload fish.

It’s always a risk, powder browns are nasty, especially if incumbent fish. I’d actually recommend adding the other two first and then the powder brown a few days later, personally.

I hope this helps! :)

Agreed. The powder tangs have a nice attitude. I added mine last and although it does get some bullying from the naso and yellow... it has gumption and stands up for itself without issue and the other two back down. One thing I do like to do when adding a new fish and there are potentially bullies in the tank is to press a mirror up to the glass and just tape it there. The aggressive fish are more ticked about the reflection and spend more time bullying the reflection than they do the new fish.

Lfs just got a desjadinis sailfin... omg I'm in love... could it work with my powder brown maybe?
