I just added my chocolate tang and just noticed he's chasing my purple firefish into hiding. Is this something that will subside in a few days?

I would say yes. IME tangs will not bother fish they do not see as a food competitor. That being said you may have some serious problems if you want to add any fish down the road. It seems you might have a very aggressive chocolate tang.

He's the last fish I'm going to add. He's no picking on him. The chocolate tang just swims by and the firefish just goes into hiding. Also have you ever heard of a clown fish and a green chromis not getting a long. I had a green chromis for a long time and just added a clown and the clown is picking on him when he gets near him.

Clownfish and chromis are both in the damsel family so it's not unheard of for there to be aggression from a clown to chromis/damsels. However there are species of clowns that are more aggressive than others, such as maroons, so that would make a difference as well.

That sounds much more typical. My Helfrichi firefish pair become very skittish when any new fish are added. After a few days they are back to their normal selves. I think they are just being extra careful to not become someone's dinner.

You had me confused with the possibility of a chocolate being super aggressive. I've kept them in the past and convinced a few friends to get them and have never seen one be much of a bully.

As for the clownfish they are very territorial but lucky for the chromis they don't seem to chase very much so he should learn to keep his distance.
