Hi there my name is heather .for about a month my tang is showing a strange pink spots around his eyes and nose .to me they look like flesh colored skin maybe raw looking .anyone know what I can do to help him ?

Head and face erosion (same as HLLE). Not caused by poor water quality nr parameters unless so poor that fish would likely have obtained bacteria and low oxygen. This is more of a condition than a disease, and is usually reversible if the fish is not too damaged. Possible causes include: Stray voltage, running carbon, nutritional deficiency and copper exposure. HLLE literally looks as though the skin is rotting or peeling off the fish. Affected areas usually include the face and lateral line, and may be white in color.
One big contributor is Nutritional/vitamin deficiency – Feed high quality nutritional foods such as:
-Spirulina brine shrimp
- LRS Herbivore diet
- mysis shrimp
- small plankton
- Nori seaweed basted with garlic extract
- Hikari Marine cuisine
- Formula 2 flake and frozen
- Hikari veggie marine
Add selcon vitamins to the foods 2-3X per week and on alternating days, garlic extract for stamina and immunity health

That does look like head and lateral line erosion. If it has a similar lesion on the other side of the head, that would confirm it as HLLE. Fish can live with this for many many years, but it is unsightly. Some fish are not affected by it (like the cardinalfish). Carbon use is the only proven cause for this, but removing carbon doesn't usually allow for the lesions to heal. Here is a link to an article I wrote about this issue:
