I have a hippo for 7 yrs same time I got him I got a purple tang, introduced a gem tang about year and a half ago, no problem ever between these fish. The past three days the hippo wants to kill the purple and the purple wants to kill the gem tang. I am freaked out by this cause after all this time with out any issues I don't understand it. Any thoughts or experiences like this? Trying to catch the purple and give him a time out but it's not easy with all corals in the way. Pls put any input you might have that can be helpfull.

have there been any other new inhabitants added lately? that is weird to have this show up all of a sudden after a year and a half.

Update. So the purple tang is out and the hippo calmed down. The weird part now is that the flame and the black tang are after the gem tang. The weirdest thing I've ever experienced in this hobby in 8 yrs. I'm starting to wonder if there is something that the gem tang is carrying to make these fish go after him

I feel like there's a bit of a mob mentality with aggression in my tank when I added my scribbled angel my yellow tang was all over him and it appeared like my hippo joined in the chase or followed suit I kept my lights off for a day and a half to let things claim down they where gonna kill the scribbled Luckly the scribbled is a tough sob and started to return the nips and now things r fine I use the lights off whenever I notice aggression but you r 100% correct if u have sensitive sand loving wrasses this can totally screw them up !
