Hi all, I am planning an upgrade and wanted some advice on stocking. My current tank is a Nuvo 20 so I am admittedly not great at knowing what I should and should not do. I’ve always wanted tangs, but I want to set myself up for success. I know even with a tank this size, the big tangs aren’t ideal (Atlantic blue, hippo, Achilles, sailfin, etc..) but I was wondering about the others. In my ideal world I think I would have three or four, is this attainable in this tank? Could I do something like a chevron, yellow, purple/black? Or would a chevron, kole, and tomini be better? What about a gem? I would love some feedback from the tang experts out there!!

Looks like a water box 180.5 display is about 5x2x2.

You can probably keep multiple tangs. I wouldn't try to mix more than one in the same genus, so any combination of yellow, purple, black will be tough.

Something like a kole, purple, and foxface would be my recommendation.

Chevron is great too. Keep in my that the adult looks completely different, and they are the largest in the Ctenochaetus genus by far.

Hope that helps.

Thanks! And yes I know, I think the chevron looks awesome in both juvenile and adult phase though! That’s one I know for sure that I want.

I wish I could go for like an 8’ tank but it’s cost prohibitive (for me) at that size for what I want to do! Haha

What about say a Powder Brown, Tomini, and Gem?

I wouldn't recommend any Acanthurus.
Good to know! I saw the recommendation for powder brown was 125+ gallon so I thought maybe! So Tomini, Gem, Fox Face would be better? Or what would your recommendation be? I appreciate it
