Everytime i put a tang in my tank thry end up getting ich im getting tired of it i dint know what the problem is.... Please help.....

Tangs are a magnet for ich. Dont worry feed them sea weed with garlic and as long as they eat they will be fine.

Maybe one of your other fish carries it and the tangs are the fish showing it while your other fish are able to fight it off..

Well i do have a black phantom clown that was in my qt tank that got treated and he stayed in there for five months after . I took him out of qt got another snowflake and put them with tang im my 90 and now ive noticed the ich on tang...

Dont think i have thr garlic stuff i have selcon and garlic oil that i use for cooking...

Im sure you have an lfs near you that carry seaweed with garlic. Try that or get a small bottle of garlic extreme and put one drop per cube of food, it will definetly help. Every tang in my tank got ich and they fought it off. Ich is always in your tank it never go away it just go dormant.

You have ich in your tank and any time a fish is stressed by the new addition its immune system drops and it gets ich. You CAN get rid of the ich in your tank by taking all fish out and letting the DT go fallow for at least 10 weeks. This will break the ich life cycle in the tank and it will die off. You'll then have to treat all fish with Cupramine or Chloroquine Phosphate in a QT tank or do the "tank transfer" method. You can rid your tank of ich, it will just take some work. If you aren't willing or able to QT all your fish and let DT be fallow then the only other thing to do is minimize stress as much as possible and feed high quality foods. This will never get rid of the ich, just help so your fish aren't as susceptible to it. There is only anecdotal evidence that garlic works, nothing scientific but it might be worth a try.

Ok jschultzbass heres the full story . Sometime in december last year i got ich in my tank , the fish that survived were put in qt tank i put together i treated tank then they actually stayed in that tank for about six months i left my display tank fishless for that long i just recently put fish back in and bam its back again . There was no way he could have been stressted he was the most happy fish in my tank noe hes got ich ... Im actually going to try herbtana i have before and it worked and it is reef safe , i know it has good and bad reviews but it has worked for me in the past.

Ich does not go dormant. It has a defined life cycle. It's not in all water, or all tanks.

Google, "Marine ich Myths and Facts" And you'll find whole lot of information, from information on the life-form, to how to treat it.

Unfortunately the only 100% Method is to place all fish into quarantine and treat them outside your main display. Leaving the main display empty[fallow] for 72 days. This will starve the parasite in the display, ridding you of it.

You can treat the fish with your favorite method of ich treatment. I personally use Copper. You can use hyposalinity if you want, just make sure you never combine Hyposalinity and copper.

Ive had my tank running for a while with no sign of ich, on that note i decided to QT my new naso tang for 4 weeks and he was absolutely find with no signs of ich. Once he was acclimated and introduced to the DT he almost immediately got a few white spots.... All the other fish including the yellow tang, flame angel etc are fine and show no signs. The naso tang has now completely fought off the ich and is doing much better. I found that spectrum thera A+ along with seaweed and frozen foods. Provided he is eating well and is not stressed he should be ok. I do agree that the only way to rid a tank of ich is to keep it fish less for up to 72 days, albeit i have never ever had any signs of ich, and this is a new tank which sat fish less for a long period of time to cure, and yet once introduced the tang got ich. Also note that i used water from the DT in the QT tank to slowly acclimate the tang over the few days, and still he showed no signs of Ich in the QT.
