Hello everyone,

I have 2 angels in my main display tank(red sea 525xl) one is regal & another juveline blue face.Whenever I put any tang in this tank within 4-5hrs they are breathing heavily. I have XF250gyre & MP40.Can someone pls help whats wrong with my tank.

Scared it may be but I first question acclimation.
How are you acclimating and introducing fish into tank?
What is tank salinity and temperature?
Also, try introducing at lights out or turn lights off rest of day....... will make the fish more comfy upon introduction.

Assuming your water parameters are all good (maybe post the levels), as already suggested in may be worth using an acclimatisation box/fish trap to see if that helps

The angels may have become quiet territorial and when your not looking could easily be bullying the new arrivals causing stress responses

Angels are small when compared to tangs I added.i added sohal which is more aggressive and he behaved like that,I moved to qt and he is fine.not sure what’s wrong in my display tank.

That means there is something wrong with your water/environment. Could be salinity, lack of oxygen, nitrates, stray voltage, or it could be bullied or even something I'm not thinking of.

My concern is very sensitive regal angel is doing amazing where as hard tangs are behaving like this.

All tangs are sensitive until they get acclimated. Just because one is classified as hardy doesn't mean it isn't still sensitive. A fish that is acclimated, like your angels, will be much more hardy than a newly introduced fish.

I'd be happy to try and help, but you need to give us some information and not just state this shouldn't be happening.

Thanks for that,I acclimated yellow tang,2 wrasses and juvenile angel at same time.yellow tang showed signs of heavy breathing and moved him to qt morning..he is recovering now.

I think one hour is too long. I float for about 10 minutes then put in a tank and add a cup of water every 5 minutes for 20-30 minutes then release into qt
Not saying inadequate but I use the bucket method. I float for 20 minutes, then release contents into bucket then Add tank water every 20 minutes over 3 hours then I give it a freshwater dip and then to tank. Received 2 fish Tuesday from NY and acclimated over 5 hours. The Tang was eating within 10 minutes

I am suspecting low PH as I don’t have refugium light and tank lights will be off,but low ph won’t affect other fish?

what are your params ? big question?

are you qt these first or just acclimating to display
