Has anyone had a gold rimmed tang and can you give me any advice on caring for one? I also have a regal and a sailfin that have been in the tank for along time. Just purchased the gold rim.

What size tank (( including dimesions, please ))

Acanthurus nigricans or Acanthurus japonicus ? Those 2 will sometimes share common names.

About a decade ago I had an A. nigricans, which became very aggressive the larger it became -- too small of a tank (( 4 foot ).

My tank is a 100 gallon. 5' LONG 18" WIDE BY 22" TALL.

They require a minimum of 125 gallons although your tank should be able to hold one, they get around 8 inches and I know they are sensitive to even small water changes, look up gold rimmed tang for more info, that's the more common name, they also along with many other tangs are ick magnets so be sure to quarantine.

I wouldn't add another tang since you already have two...if you do go for one I'd try to get one that's about the same size as your other tangs to minimize aggression. How long have the other tangs been in the tank?

Believe it or not the gold rimmed got into a spat with the regal and sailfin my large maroon clown got in the middle of them and know everyone is getting along.

All is well all 3 tangs are swimming around together and getting along.

It's usually hit or miss with multiple tangs, you can tell pretty early if it'll work , looks like you got lucky! Post some pics!
