Tank Background

I acquired a tank that does not have a background. I have only seen tanks where the back was painted black. What kind of paint is best for this? Glossy or Flat? Has anyone ever tried other colors or seen another color? How does it look? I am hesitant to paint it any other color because the overflow is black. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I used an opaque tint. No paint involved. I'm a total newb and got it on there no problem.

I think black is used because every color pops against a solid black background. A blue background would be distracting in my opinion and move focus from your tank.

Don't paint it at all, Use Window Tint and with this you can choose one that fits your taste.

Buy the cheap backgrounds from lfs and use electrical tape to put it on .. how my 150 is and u camt tell unless u look close that it was just tapped on .. this is tje easiest for removal if u decide to change later

I just put an electric blue one on my tank just the other day. It looks great and took like 5 minutes to put on. Got it from AC.

i picked up a piece of blue acrylic .made some brackets for the bottom then velcrowed the top.its removable,

Check out this thread this is a pretty incredible tank by a really great guy. the light box that he has on the back of his tank are really pretty amazing and give this tank an endless depth.

I use the black vinyl on 12/24/11 I think it looks great and easy to install, like window tint.

The first tank background is nice though. I had it in my favorites because I was thinking of doing the same thing.
I am only going to be able to do blue or black for my tank. Leaning toward blue again.
I am going to use this stuff.
