Tank base for Aqueons

Setting up a 40 gallon breeder on a metal stand for a quarantine tank. Do I need to have any styrofoam or wooden panel in between the tank and metal stand?

Aqueon tanks have plastic bracing around the top and base. When placed on a table top, the glass bottom doesn't touch the table, just its edges. Because of this, you can get away with placing the tank directly on the stand.

I like and use Aqueon tanks. Some are direct on stand and others have 1/4" Styrofoam between the tank and glass. You can go either way.
