FIRST TANK BUILD
TANK: Fluval M90
Dimension: 35.4L x 16.5W x 15.7H
Cabinet: 35.4L x 16.5W x 35.4H
Equipment:
- Eheim AEH1002310 Pump
- Tunze 9004 Skimmer
- Cobalt Aquatics 150W Heater
- Lights “Stock Fluval Marine & Reef 3.0” Upgraded
- Refractometer
- Api saltwater master test kit
- Digital temp probes saltwater aquarium graded
- Polycarbonate Tubing “Used for water change valve”
- Gravel cleaner
- Tunze care magnet nana
- Innoivative Marine accudrip acclimator
- Res Sea Salt mix

Hello R2R,
This is my first time venturing into the saltwater reef life. I must say its been challenging but also filled with joy and support from tons of forums and amazing people I’ve met along the way. I make it sound like its been years but it hasn’t. it’s only been 2 months and 15 days and counting. With all that said I will start off by saying I purchased the tank and stand from a reefer who I became very good friends with over the time and has helped me with amazing advise, The tank was purchased brand new in box so was the stand. I got it for a steal since this set up cost around a grand. On April 10thI received all the items above and started the process. I purchased a 40Gallon brute can and purchased around 15; 5 gallon buckets from Home Depot, I drove to The Reef Shoppe in the Bronx and they assisted me in filling all the buckets with freshly brewed RODI water.
Step 1: Mixed 40 Gallons of RODI water with Red Sea salt to a salinity of 1.025.
Step 2: Added 40 pounds of Live carib sea Fiji pink sand in the tank
Step 3: Added 36 Gallons of mixed water into the tank
Step 4: I ran no equipment, and let the sand settle. which lasted around 24-48hrs
Step 5: Added Skimmer, Heater, Eheim return pump, and an old jebao wave pump that was also given to me by the person i purchased the tank from. Skimmer didn't go on until further down the road.
Step 6: Added 17 pounds of Carib sea rock, 5 pounds being a LFS purchased live rock.
Step 7: The waiting game, tank needed to be cycled. which entailed testing every couple of days, I boosted the process adding a whole cube of mysis shrimp. Took 2 weeks to completely cycle.
Ladies and gentleman with that said this is the start of my tank ! i called it (YEEZY's REEF)
I will be updating Daily, or to my best availability ! hope you guys enjoyed the start of an amazing process and hobby.
